Big N had warned that the party will not stop, no, sir: (phew!) It’s a huge name for an equally giant game. The new version further expands the experience that, recently, was considered by us the largest and best produced. Keeping the mood of the party at the apex, here there are new ways to have fun and compete.
The previous experience was already so stuffed with news that it was a reason for much celebration, especially compared to the games released at Nintendo Switch. After all, we finally saw the series expand as it deserved – and success is undeniable. But Jamboree TV comes to show that a good party lasts a little longer and can still enjoy the new features of this hybrid!
The more super Mario Party, the better!
Right away, the game features a menu similar to that, where you can choose from Super Mario Party Jamboree, Jamboree TV or Gameshare. The first option takes you to the base title, being exactly the same available on the original switch. There are no differences here, it is a backward version, with unchanged resources and specifications, which is really a pity.
At first glance, the initial selection of the games sounds strange. They could be new islands on the map of Super Mario Party Jamboree, as this is where all game modes are divided. It would have more sense and could make this map even more beautiful. Instead, we have to choose between the 2024 game, the Jamboree TV expansion and the functionality of sharing gambling with other switches through Gameshare.
If you don’t know Super Mario Party Jamboree, here is a summary: there are 7 trays, four released from the beginning and 3 extras that you unlock as you gain experience. It is the largest variety that the series has ever offered on the switch, and they have new mechanics, including the possibility of purchasing a partner in the competition.
In addition, there are three dynamic modes in which you use the Joy-Cons to perform movements during the minigames. Already on Bowser’s challenges islands, there are coins races and a battlefield where eight players come together to defeat the giant Bowser Importor. Seriously, all this is rich and a lot of fun.
A Fun Archipelago
And if you think it’s over, you’re wrong: Jamboree still features an island focused on minigames, with various ways of facing them. And, discreetly, there is the journey mode of tasks, which puts you to help in the preparations of the trays. It is a different way of facing the game, almost like a history mode, although it all leads to numerous minigames, which yield good rewards. Winning everything the game has to offer will yield many hours of partying, whether with friends, online or even alone.
Know that we have been at this party for a while. We have already shared details and information about the new mechanics and modes of Super Mario Party Jamboree – even tips for. If you haven’t seen it, it is already saved for later. But it is still here, because at Nintendo Switch 2 there is still a lot to know.
Jamboree TV, as its name suggests, is a TV show where you and your friends are called on stage to participate in all four attractions. Among them, it is possible to follow the classic Mario Party that, despite keeping the same Jamboree trays, now brings everything unlocked, with 1440p resolution and also new minigames that use the “mouse” of Joy-Cons 2.
This version allows you to use a camera connected to the Nintendo Switch 2 so that players are part of the game. It seems silly at first, but seeing your friends’ reactions when they suffer any damage is priceless. The game also inserts effects on the interface of the avatars captured by the camera, which ensures laughter throughout the match and makes the mood even more chaotic.
Taking advantage of Jamboree TV to the fullest
The Nintendo Switch 2 recognized perfectly (and without complications) my generic webcam. Just use an adapter to turn the connector into USB-C, plug it to the console and voilà! I can’t guarantee that it works with all the webcams, but at least here it was a pleasant surprise. The camera is used only to identify the player and provide reactions, so unlike Kinect experiences, there are no gambling interruptions here to properly locate or position the player.
Using the mouse in the minigames is sensational! Doing the simulation of a friction cart or dragging objects through the screen is very tasty, thanks to the fluidity and vibration HD 2. Detail: All movements were made in the leg! To get better, Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV adds frantic mode, with five -minute matches and doubles challenge. You can use all this online locally on all trays and with all the rules already existing in Jamboree.
Following the attractions of Jamboree TV, the mountain of fun leads you to a cooperative way in which you need to use the mouse to throw balls in obstacles while traveling the tracks with your cart. Defeating enemies ensures more time for play, and upon entering the pipelines, minigames that also increase time, depending on their classification, appear. The routes are light, with charming scenarios and offer a good deal of fun.
You can also use the camera connected to Switch 2-this transports you into the roller coaster and makes you lift your arms during the descents (even to earn more time). Unfortunately it is not as challenging as it could, but guarantees good surprises. In all, there are five routes with 14 new mouse functionality, it’s a good way to try it out. All are very cool and have a bit of it.
Back on stage, you can go to the Bowser show, this is a competitive pair mode. You will need to choose between mini -games using the camera or microphone integrated with the Nintendo Switch 2. After choice, the pairs are divided into the show’s audience and dispute three rounds of clashes that will define the winner.
A pocket show
In this attraction, amazing: There are only three minigames that use the camera, and three more that use the microphone. It is clear that they repeat themselves after some shows. It is frustrating to see an expansion that aims to explore the new technologies and accessories of the console to be limited to only six interactive games. I hope that future updates bring a more varied script for this show.
Before the Jamboree TV schedule is over, you still have access to free mode, where you can choose your favorite minigames or play randomly. In total, the expansion brings 20 new minigames. The amount is good, but it’s hard to believe in these limitations – see, Dona Nintendo.
Finally, to close the Super Mario Party Jamboree package – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, you can share part of the experience with Gameshare, which allows another player to join the party using just a free app on your own console. But again, there are limitations: the guest can only play a single board (Mega Wiggler forest) and only 30 minigames, without access to other modes, Jamboree TV or special features. In addition, mode only works locally between nearby consoles.
In the end, the party is immense. Jamboree TV is beautiful, with slightly faster charges and the 60 FPs keep the game fluid all the time. There is a lot of what to have fun, for all tastes and, therefore, is still a wonderful title. Still, limitations bother and weigh. It is really a pity that there were no improvements in the base game and that camera and microphone are so little used.
