Through his X (former Twitter), Zema wrote that the prison is “another dark chapter in the history of political persecution of the STF.” He expressed solidarity with the former president and said that “Alexandre de Moraes now put Bolsonaro in house arrest for having his voice heard in the networks.”

Bolsonaro’s house arrest was decreed for non -compliance with precautionary measures. Restrictions prevented the former president from using social networks, even through third party devices and accounts.

This Sunday (3), Bolsonaro spoke to protesters through a call with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ). Subsequently, the politician published the speech on the networks, which was considered a break of measures.

Ronaldo Caiado criticized the fact that the former president was arrested due to publication. “If a citizen cannot speak publicly in his defense, it is because the verdict is given,” he wrote by official note.

The governor of Goiás lamented the incarceration and said that “unfortunately, before the conclusion of his trial, the former president is already convicted.” He also states that the lawsuit against Bolsonaro “began wrong, when the Supreme Court defined by the former president’s trial in a chamber and not the full of the Supreme Court.”

Similarly, Eduardo Leite stated: “I don’t like the idea of a former president not being able to comment, and I like even less to see him being arrested for it, before being tried by the Supreme Court’s collegiate body.”

The politician pointed out that since the redemocratization, only one president was not arrested or suffered impeachment. Leite used this fact as an argument to criticize what he called “polarization” and the process against Bolsonaro: “Our country does not deserve to be hostage to this legal-political cable that only delays the life of all for years.”

The governor also stressed that he does not discuss “legality or legal reason” of the prison, but asked the energy of authorities to be not directed to “exterminate opponents”.
