Report states that members of the minister’s office searched prisoners profiles in the 2023 attacks and used publications up to 2018 behind to justify maintenance of prison
The office of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Court (STF), would have scoured the social networks of prisoners of January 8 and used posts shared by them, sometimes years before attacks on the headquarters of the three powers, to decide whether they should remain trapped or be released, according to a Produced by journalists David Agape and Eli Vieira and published on the website, author of.
According to the text released on August 4, 2025, Agape and Vieira sought the Supreme Court, the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), the PGR (Attorney General’s Office), the Army, Moraes and People mentioned in prints of WhatsApp groups to ask for a demonstration about the case. They published that none of the sought sides responded.
The report states that members of the Moraes Office used the posts of social networks to determine whether a prisoner had a “positive certificate” or “negative certificate”. The term “positive” would be understood as “suspicious profile”. Journalists say that of the registered analyzed, 42 people received “positive” certificates, and 277, “negative”. They also claim that no prisoner with a “positive” certificate has been released.
According to Agape and Vieira, it was possible to confirm the authenticity of 69 certificates. They reported, however, that they will not disclose the full for “Contain confidential personal data from the investigated”.
It is not possible to independently verify the authenticity of whatsapp certificates and conversations. In such cases, it is also common for a media vehicle to disclose the full with stripes on the sensitive data – which was not done.
The text also says that the Moraes Office used the TSE biometrics system with voter data from all over Brazil to identify protesters in photos of the acts of January 8. The authorization would have been issued by Moraes at the time president of the Court.

The report also shows what would be reproductions of group conversations on WhatsApp called “custody hearings.” It is not possible to verify the authenticity of the messages.
In the messages, the head of the Moraes Office, Cristina Yukiko Kusahara Gomes, speaks with Eduardo Tagliaferro, former advisor to the magistrate at TSE and In the STF. She says the minister does not want to release the prisoners without first seeing if there is anything on their profiles on social networks and also asked to check if they “They did not participate in Zap or Telegram groups for the coup”.
In another moment, Cristina calls on the tagliaferro: “I need this analysis, made with caution, but not in your rhythm there … Sorry for the expression … the people there is badly used to it.”.
She says there is no room for “sorry” with Moraes.
