There are behaviors that, on a plane, can have immediate and severe consequences. Among them, the consumption of alcoholic beverages purchased in Duty Free before the flight or in prolonged waiting times, such as delays in takeoff. Although many passengers are unaware of the legal and safety implications associated with these acts, airlines have clear rules that apply without hesitation when necessary, as happened on this Jet2 flight, where some British were expelled.
It took place on July 24 on a flight from Leeds Bradford airport bound for Greece, and which, according to the British newspaper Express, saw two passengers were forcibly removed before taking off.
Troubled beginning and improper consumption on board
The two friends will have started drinking a bottle of vodka bought in Duty Free during the delay period at the airport. His behavior has quickly became disturbing, leading other passengers to alert the crew.
One of the present, Ian Doyle, reported that “the crew was doing the best he could, but the drunk man simply lost control of the situation.” He added that “we had to call the police because he was so drunk that it was impossible to contain him. Apparently, the two friends brought a bottle of vodka and thought they could drink it during the delay.”
Immediate consequence: expulsion and prohibition of flying
The airline, in statements to the same source, confirmed that the two British passengers were immediately banned from all the carrier’s flights. The company said that “as a family -oriented airline, we apply a zero tolerance policy to disruptive behaviors.” This decision is part of a continuous effort to preserve the safety and well-being of passengers and crew.
Impact on other passengers
Although the incident did not cause significant additional delays, the onboard environment was, according to witnesses, tense and disturbing. Some families were visibly affected by the situation, especially children, who were startled by the episode.
Regulations and sensitization continue to be reinforced
According to, Jet2 stressed that it is forbidden to consume alcohol acquired outside the plane on board. This information is notified verbally and in writing to passengers, but continues to be disrespected in punctual situations. The carrier appeals to all travelers to collaborate with the crew, respecting the rules of conduct during the flight.
