The police action is the nth that the Civil Guard executes in recent months against organizations that are dedicated to supplying fuel to drug trafficking, smuggling and the networks that traffic with people. They are in the province due to the police pressure in Cádiz or the Costa del Sol, but also because criminals can take advantage of the labyrinthine roads between greenhouses and the numerous coves that are away from populations. The most commonly used formula is to collect gasoline in different service stations and then take it to clandestine stores and, from there, transport them to the high seas into fast boats and supply the mafias. To try to avoid it, the Almeria command performs continued operations both in the Cabo de Gata area and in the west.
On this occasion the result is due to a double operation carried out between this Tuesday and Wednesday. The most relevant action, however, dates back to the summer of last year, when 50 people – all members of the Lates Clan – were arrested in Adra. , which supplied on board 25 vessels and six water motorcycles, in addition to five firearms.
