The scenarios that wanted the international striker Sean Weiman did not succeed the new acquisition of Fortuna Düsseldorf, with the German Second Division Association posting on social media that “we studied the profile of Sean Weasan, but we did not decide”.
The reason for the team’s decision not to acquire Weiman, the public expression of his support for the Gaza war after the attacks of 7 October 2023.
The German newspaper Bild reported that the 29 -year -old footballer was ready to join Fortuna Düsseldorf and that he had passed the medical examinations.
According to Bild, the Israeli international striker (33 appearances with the National) had previously expressed, through his personal accounts, his support to IDF in the war against Hamas, in the Gaza Strip, calling on October 2023 to “disappear”.
Weisan quickly deleted his posts. He later explained that he was wrong and reacted “… under emotional charge”, but rumors of his forthcoming transfer to Fortuna sparked a strong reaction to the club’s fans. The club did not clarify whether his withdrawal on the issue of Weisan’s transcription was related to the discontent of the fans.
“Although I accept every criticism, it hurts me that the full context was not taken into account,” Weiman said on his Instagram account.
