Emídio Marques Ferreira, former vice president of heritage of the International, was sentenced on Tuesday (5) by the court to ten years and six months in prison, in closed regime, for crimes committed in the office between 2015 and 2016.
According to the sentence, he will also have to indemnify the club at $ 607,000 for his participation in a funds deviation scheme. It is up to appeal.
The report sought the defense of Ferreira, but there was no demonstration until the publication of this text.
According to investigations by MP-RS (Rio Grande do Sul Public Prosecution Service), Ferreira, along with Vitorio Piffero, former president of the gaucho club, and Pedro Affatato, former vice president of finance, diverted a value of over R $ 13 million-all will need to reimburse the amount.
Piffero was sentenced to 12 years and three months of detention, with payment of 135 minimum fine salaries for money laundering and estelionate crimes.
For the same crimes and an additional prosecution of criminal organization, Affatato was sentenced by the 2nd State Court of Procedure and Judgment of Crimes of Criminal Organization and Money Laundering of TJ-RS to 76 years, one month and 15 days imprisonment and payment of 675 minimum wages.
Piffero’s defense said he is innocent and that there is not enough evidence for his conviction. Already the lawyer of Affatato reported that it will speak only in the case file.
The sentences are consequences of Operation rebound, MP-RS, which found illegalities in charge of the club in that biennium, especially in the renovation works of the Beira-Rio Stadium. The three leaders can still appeal.
