Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) authorized on Wednesday (6) the interim between Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid and Colonel Marcelo Câmara, under the criminal action that investigates the attempted coup by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The decision was anticipated by CNN Brazil.
The request came from the defense of Marcelo Câmara, who seeks to confront statements made by CID, which point to the colonel as responsible for the illegal monitoring of authorities, including Moraes himself, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB).
According to Marcelo Câmara’s lawyers, the Cid version, provided in award -winning denunciation, is “incongruous” and “dissociated from the other evidence” contained in the case file.

The defense questions the truth of the accusation that the colonel would have monitored the plate elected in 2022 and authorities of the judiciary, especially because there are no other elements that confirm this conduct in the process.
According to the Federal Police and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the monitoring would have occurred before Lula and Alckmin’s diplomation, during the period when Chamber worked as a direct advisor to Bolsonaro in the Planalto Palace.
Obstruction attempt
Colonel Marcelo Câmara is one of the defendants of core 2 of the coup plot ,. He is pre -imprisoned preventively and is appointed as one of the central parts of the parallel structure that operated inside the presidential office.

In addition to being a defendant, Câmara is investigated for obstruction of justice – according to PF, he would have tried to contact Mauro Cid after the investigation advances, which may configure attempt to interference in the judicial process.

Moraes’s decision adds to other acoreations already authorized in core 1 of the investigation. The minister authorized that Cid was confronted with General Walter Braga Netto, former vice presidential candidate on Bolsonaro’s plate, former Army commander Marco Antonio Freire Gomes, and former Justice Minister Anderson Torres.
Acceractions are considered strategic by the Court to clarify contradictions in the statements and deepen the criminal liability of those involved in the attempt to subvert the result of the 2022 elections.
