The minister established that Silveira must inform the Supreme Court the dates of the sessions, prove the procedure within 24 hours, in addition to returning to the prison
The Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), authorized on Tuesday (5) the former deputy to leave the arrest temporarily to do physical therapy sessions. The measure was authorized after the former parliamentarian’s defense requests the benefit from the minister. According to the lawyers, Silveira underwent knee surgery, and the prison is unable to perform the treatment of rehabilitation.
“From the analysis of the documentation attached to the file, I find that Daniel Lúcio da Silveira has the need for postoperative treatment outside the prison unit where it is custodian,” wrote Moraes. The minister also established that Silveira should previously inform the supreme the dates of treatment sessions, prove the procedure within 24 hours, in addition to returning to the prison in which he is in custody, in Magé (RJ).
In 2023, Daniel Silveira was sentenced by the Supreme Court to eight years and nine months in prison for crimes of attempt to prevent the free exercise of powers and coercion in the course of the process by giving offenses and threats against STF ministers. In December 2024, he lost conditional release after breaking the precautionary determined by Alexandre de Mores to comply with night collection after 10 pm.
