One third of Congress Projects in Health Duplicate or Conflict with Existing Standard, says Institute – 08/06/2025 – Panel

Survey made by the IEPs (Institute of Policy Study for) points out that one in three bills analyzed by Congress in 2024 had conflict or doubled existing rules of (Unified Health System).

The study considered 1,314 propositions related to the theme. Among them, for example, there is a proposal from Deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT-AP) that provides for the importation of medicines even without registration of Anvisa, provided they are approved by international agencies.

Another proposal, that of Deputy Damião Feliciano (Union-PB), determines that SUS will offer losing weight medicines, such as Ozepic and Saxenda.

The project, points out the institute, ignores technical criteria such as the evaluation of efficacy and safety, as well as opening gaps for judicialization and compromising the sustainability of SUS.

The study also shows that, in 16% of projects deal with the creation of campaigns or symbolic dates, such as the National Hand Care Day and National Sleep Day.
