The Anti-Sequestro Police Station, of the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, investigates an alleged kidnapping plan by the president of Vasco, former player Pedrinho. From an anonymous complaint, the agency informed the leader of the situation and advised him to reinforce safety care.
The investigation, still in the preliminary phase, points out that the idea was to approach the top hat when he left the club’s headquarters in São Januário, until Wednesday (6). The investigation is treated confidentially, but the police unit said it was “following all the planned protocols, including with regard to the alleged target.”
Pedrinho received police notification last Tuesday (5). He regretted the episode and recalled previous situations. He said he was threatened with death on WhatsApp and had his address revealed on the internet by a digital influencer.
“After the threats of death and the disclosure of my address, I have now been surprised by police information about an attempt to kidnap me. People are exceeding all limits. It’s unacceptable. I trust the police authorities and I’m sure that soon the culprits will be punished,” said the Vasca President.
The club also commented by note and said it was available to contribute to the investigation.
“The Vasco da Gama Regatta Club confirms the existence of a report of kidnapping against President Pedrinho and informs that he is fully collaborating with the investigation conducted by the Civil Police,” says the text.
According to the G1 website, the complaints received by the Civil Police pointed to Bangu militia, in the west of Rio de Janeiro, as the authors of the kidnapping plan. The idea would be to have the former player in custody and coerce him to make Pix transfers.
The case is in a turbulent moment of Vasco, which faces financial difficulties and is in the relegation zone of the Brazilian Championship. In the Brazilian Cup, after a 0-0 draw at the King Pelé Stadium in Maceió, the team will play the return match of the round of 16 at home, in São Januário, this Thursday (7).
In the midst of the difficult phase, influencer Krav Marejo last month registered a police report, saying he was assaulted by Marcelo Machado, Vasco’s SAF vice president of relationship, after the team’s elimination in the South American Cup. Machado denied.
Pedrinho, in turn, accused the influencer of disclosing his address.
“I never had anyone assaulting any kind of criticism made to me,” said Pedrinho. “He, yes, on social networks, asked lynching, passed my address. It is necessary to make it clear that the emotion of people is not entitled to encourage aggression, much less to disclose my address.”
Krav denied “vehemently”.
