The tariff imposed by the US to Brazilian products arrives with the dialogue still locked between presidents Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump. By attending a meeting on Tuesday (5) of the Sustainable Social Economic Development Council, Lula said he would not call Trump because the US president does not want to talk.
“I won’t call Trump to negotiate anything (about the tariff), because he doesn’t want to,” Lula said, to say, “But it may be right, Marina (Silva, I will call Trump to invite him to COP (the global meeting on climate change, which will happen in Bethlehem); I want to know what he thinks of the climate issue.”
Lula again complained that the US President could have called him before or to Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, as there would be a disposition of dialogue regarding the imposition of new rates. The tariff was released through a letter published on a social network. “The US President had no right to announce taxes as he announced to Brazil.”
