In a meeting with councilors on Tuesday (5), the mayor of, () listed among his priorities to the second semester to create a municipal consumer protection agency, along the lines of the state procon.
The bill, sent to the City Council at the end of July, establishes the Paulistano Procon, which will be under the responsibility of the Municipal Secretariat of Justice (SMJ) and will have as advisory body the Condomcom (Municipal Consumer Protection Council).
The Paulistano Procon will serve only individuals or legal entities domiciled in the capital.
The amounts collected in the event of a fine to companies will be destined to the FMC (Municipal Consumer Protection Fund), and unpaid debts will be enrolled in active debt and charged by the Municipal Attorney General.
According to Nunes, the proposal will allow to oversee suppliers’ obligations, as well as benefit the consumer.
The mayor also argues that municipal agency will not interfere with the already consolidated state procon.
