United States Under-Secretary of Public Diplomacy, Darren Beattie, threatened the Supreme Court (STF) ministers through his X (former Twitter) on Wednesday, 6. Sharing publication by the US State Department-an organ equivalent to Itamaraty-which condemns the household arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), he asked other magistrates not to support Alexandre of Alexandre Moraes.
“The allies of Moraes in the Supreme Court and elsewhere are strongly advised not to assist or encourage the sanctioned behavior of Moraes,” wrote the high -ranking US official.
Beattie also defined Moraes as “the main architect of the Bolsonaro -targeted censorship and persecution complex and his supporters,” he said that “the blatant abuses of human rights committed by Moraes earned him a Magnitsky global sanction of President Trump.”

The minister was the target of sanctions via Magnistsky Law. The American device prevents Moraes from accessing the country, moving goods in the United States, and having access to US companies. So far, the norm had only been used to punish human rights violators, dictators and criminals.
The purpose of the US government, by applying the sanctions, was to interfere with the trial that investigates the participation of Jair Bolsonaro in an attempt to coup.
Previously, Beattie had already defined the taxation of 50% over national products by the US as “long -awaited consequences for the Supreme Court of Moraes and the Lula administration for their attacks on Jair Bolsonaro, freedom of expression and American trade.”

In addition to Moraes, the US government has also applied sanctions to seven other STF ministers, revoking US magistrates visas. The rate on national products was also a way to press Brazil through economic coercion to interrupt Bolsonaro’s trial.
United States sanctions against Brazil are conducted at the request of federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who has been self-exhibited in the US and from there articulates attacks against the country and national authorities with the objective of pressuring the granting of an amnesty to those convicted of the coup attempt, including his father.
