The Porto Judicial Police dismantled an international drug trafficking network, originating in Latin America, which resulted in the seizure of 1400 kilos of cocaine and the detention of two men, 34 and 42, one of which is Captain of the GNR.
The drug, evaluated at about 30 million euros, arrived at the port of Leixões, in Matosinhos, concealed in fresh animal skin already in advanced state of decomposition. The narcotics came in three containers and were destined for the European market.
Among the detainees is Ricardo Portal, Captain of GNR on a license without expiration for about a year and former commander of the post of Fafe. It is pointed out as one of the leaders of the scheme and is partner of an importing company that will be involved in the operation.
The investigation, which began in July last year, was supported by US agencies Dea and CBP. The PJ accompanied the path of containers to a warehouse in Fafe, where the two suspects were arrested as they awaited the arrival of the goods.
In addition to cocaine, several motorized vehicles and firearms were seized. Josué Santos, chief inspector of the PJ, praised the “excellent work of our operational” in a large-scale operation.
It detained it in the fafe zone, two men for international drug trafficking and seized 1.5 tons of cocaine.
