“Here, the faithful speaks louder.” This is what the advertising campaign of Lucky Sports, aired at the São Paulo subway. The piece, stamped in black and with the Corinthians symbol, was installed on line 3-red, which connects Corinthians-Itaquera station to Palmeiras-Barra Funda.
The action of the sports betting company, which began on July 28, involved the envelope of wagons with the visual identity of Corinthians. However, the choice of line generated controversy, as it passes precisely through Palmeiras-Barra Funda station, near Allianz Parque, home of the rival.
The controversy gained even more strength because, on Wednesday (6), Palmeiras and Corinthians face each other at the Alviverde Stadium, in a match valid for the Brazilian Cup. The climate of rivalry, added to the campaign, raised concerns about the possibility of confrontations between fans.
Earlier, through social networks, Sports of Luck celebrated the advertising action with the comment in a post that said: “More than a sponsorship, an honor! Go Corinthians!”. However, on Wednesday afternoon, the company says the campaign is suspended on Wednesday and that the envelope will no longer circulate.
“The initiative is being rediscussed because the circulation of these trains also pass through Barra Funda Station, which gives access to the Palmeiras Stadium,” says the company, which also aims to reinforce support to Corinthians, but is concerned with the integrity and safety of the public.
The company states that the action was rethought after the depredation at São Paulo-Morumbi station, last Monday. At the time, Santos fans vandalized advertisements by Sao Paulo that was installed at the station.
“Together with the São Paulo subway and the responsible security agencies, he studies the best way to continue the broadcast of an advertising campaign that has enveloped some trains of the company with elements that rely to Corinthians, the brand sponsored club,” says the company.
The report questioned the São Paulo subway regarding the campaign. The company states, however, that the advertising campaign has already been closed, “within the planned period, with the train out of circulation for the removal of adhesives.”
“The company values passenger safety and continues to monitor the displacement of fans and others, in order to ensure the well-being of all,” he says. In today’s game, Corinthians enters the field with advantage, as they won their first confrontation 1-0 and now tries to secure the place even playing away from home.
