The Senate approved on Thursday (7) the update of the monthly income tax table for individuals, maintaining the exemption for rent up to two minimum wages (R $ 3,036). The text had already been approved by the House.
The approval occurred after the end of the Senate plenary occupation in the early afternoon, which obstructed the work after just over 47 hours of occupation in Protest (PL), decreed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
“We are taking from the table. We hope that from now on we can discuss and work guidelines that interest everyone, regardless of the ideological position,” said Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), who led the Senate Protest group.

With the removal of parliamentarians, the president of the house, David Alcolumbre (Union-AP), was able to reopen the work in remote session, already scheduled to deliberate on issues of economic interest.
“We will continue to vote on matters of interest to the population, such as the project that ensures the exemption of income tax for millions of Brazilians who receive up to two minimum wages. Democracy is made with dialogue, but also with responsibility and firmness,” Alcolumbre said in a statement.

In summoning Thursday’s session, the president of the Senate signaled that he would not accept embarrassment to the Legislative Power, even if he kept his willingness to dialogue with all sectors of the house.
