The presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the United States, Donald Trump, will meet in the next few days, the Kremlin advisor for international politics, Yuri Ushakov announced today.
“The approximate date was set for next week, but the parties are beginning to prepare for this important meeting and it is difficult to predict how many days their preparations will take,” said Ushakov, cited by the official Tass agency.
A meeting between Putin and Trump would be the first since Trump returned to power this year, last January, and launched the negotiating process between the invaded country and the invader, a month later.
It would be a significant milestone in the war that lasts more than three years, although there are no promises that said meeting leads to the end of the fighting, since Russia and Ukraine maintain very distant positions in their demands.
