  • Most Ukrainians prefer to end the war by negotiations.
  • Supporting continuing the fight to victory has declined significantly.
  • Hope for Ukraine’s accession to NATO has decreased.
  • The United States is perceived as an important ally.

Most Ukrainians prefer to end the war with Russia through negotiations, and less than a quarter of them are in favor of continuing the fight against Russian forces until victory. This was shown by a public opinion poll that GALLUP agency She published on Thursday, writes TASR.

More than three years after the beginning of the war, unleashed by Russia by a military invasion against a neighboring country, it reached Support of Ukrainians to continue the fight until the victory of the new minimum. In a survey conducted in early July, he gave 69 percent of respondents show that they are for the earliest end of the conflict on the basis of negotiations. 24 percent of respondents were spoken for the continuation of the fight.

According to Gallup, this is an almost complete turnover of public opinion compared to 2022. In the first year of the War of Ukraine, 73 percent of Ukrainians supported the fight and 22 percent favored the conclusion of the agreement to terminate it as soon as possible. Kiev’s war efforts have now been reduced in all strata of the Ukrainian society, regardless of the demographic group or region.

Most Ukrainians are skeptical in the hope of early ending active fighting. Every fourth (25 percent) believes that this will happen over the next 12 months. More than two -thirds (68 percent) are unlikely that active fights will end next year.

Since 2022, the hopes of the Ukrainians have also disappeared for rapid accession to the EU and NATO. Ukraine has long expressed the wish of becoming a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, which it considers crucial for its long -term security. According to the survey 32 percent of Ukrainians have hope for NATO access, which is half less than three years ago.

At the same time, it has increased to 33 percent of those who believe that Ukraine will never be admitted to NATO. As for the EU accession, the tight majority of adult Ukrainians (52 percent) expect their country to be adopted over the next decade. Last year it was 61 percent, in the years before 73 percent.

It is also possible to see a significant change in views on the United States. President Donald Trump’s administration is approved by 16 percent of Ukrainians in 2025, with 73 percent disagreement. The former US management in 2022 was supported by 66 percent of respondents. The positive view of Russia and China remains at the level of one or eight percent.

Most Ukrainians (70 percent) still consider Washington to be an important player in the conflict in Ukraine despite the sharp disagreement with the current US government. In the peace process, they similarly perceive the involvement of EU countries (75 percent) and the United Kingdom (71 percent).
