Sales rose 14.2%, driven by reducing the tax on industrialized products; projections for the year were reviewed downwards

Vehicle production in Brazil had a significant increase of 15.7% in July, compared to the previous month, totaling 237,835 units. Here is (PDF – 4 MB) of the monthly report of ANFAVEA (National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers), released on Thursday (7.ago.2025).

Sales, in turn, grew 14.2%, reaching 243,238 units, driven in part by the effects of the federal government program that reduced the IPI (Tax on Industrialized Products).

Despite the monthly growth, when compared to July 2024, vehicle production dropped 3.6%, and sales remained practically stable, with a slight growth of 0.8%.

Accumulated from January to July 2025, vehicle production in Brazil registered an advance of 6.1%, totaling 1.47 million units. Licenses increased 4.1%, totaling 1.44 million vehicles.

Exports

Another highlight was the growth of exports, which increased 22.4% in July 2025, compared to the same period of 2024, reaching 47,862 units. This performance reflects the strengthening of the international presence of Brazilian vehicles, especially the markets of Latin America and other regions.

Projections

Anfavea revised its projections to 2025, especially the strong recovery in vehicle exports, especially for the Argentine market. The growth forecast for exports was adjusted from 7.5% to 38.4%, expecting 551,000 units sent abroad, a reflection of increasing demand in the neighboring country.

However, there was a worsening reading to the domestic market. The projection of advancement of vehicle sales was reduced from 6.3% to 5% over the previous year, totaling 2.76 million units. Adjusting the predictions reflects a slowdown in the truck segment, which faces difficulties due to the increase in interest rates, especially impacting heavy models, focused on transporting long distances.

Although internal sales have a slight drop, the strong increase in exports allows ANFAVEA to maintain its production forecast for 2025, which is expected to reach 2.749 million units, a growth of 7.8% compared to last year.
