Santos took an important step this Friday (8) to build their new stadium, with the approval of the project by the City of Santos.
The construction is expected to be completed in 40 months, with demolition of the current structure of Vila Belmiro, and investments of around R $ 700 million.
The new Arena will have room for over 30,000 fans, twice the current capacity, in an area of approximately 71,000 square meters where is the Caldeira Urbano Stadium, the official name of the village.
The ceremony in the city of the city that endorsed the project was attended by the mayor of the city, Rogério Santos (Republicans), and the president of Santos, Marcelo Teixeira, as well as representatives of WTorre, responsible for the works.
The club and the technicians now have up to one year to ask for a license for the works, a renewable deadline for the same period.
“We take an important step to the club and the city, which will have a modern arena, capable of hosting big games and also great shows and events, something we have no structure to do,” said the mayor.
The new arena will be divided into four sectors: stands; Upper stands, premium deck and box.
There will be what was called “modernization” of the structure, to host shows and social events, with a new visitation space, with shops, restaurants and coworking area.
The external structure must have honors to large idols, including projections with the Pelé image. There is also the provision of parking.
It is expected that during the work, 1,000 jobs will be created –100 direct and 900 indirect. During the operation, about 165 jobs should be generated, with 530 more hiring during events.
WTorre has also pledged to revitalize the entire surroundings, “with level sidewalks, new landscaping, cameras integrated into the city’s safety system and improvements in signaling, bike paths and street lighting.”
The construction company will make the environmental compensation, with the planting of 300 native trees.
The process for approval of the project began in January 2023, based on the presentation of the material produced by the technician hired by the club and involved adjustments and adjustments to municipal standards, as well as meeting state, federal and technical standards.
“It was an obligation for Santos Futebol Clube to have a multipurpose arena, capable not only to host football games, but also to generate resources through shows and events, contributing to the club, the city and the region to continue to be a reference in sports, social and cultural activities,” said Marcelo Teixeira.
