Prime Minister Luís Montenegro said the government will not give up on the new law of foreigners, even if the Constitutional Court will require corrections. The proposal will be discussed in Parliament in September and, according to the Chief Executive, the goal is to find solutions that are in accordance with the Constitution.
The Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, assured tonight that he will not give up on the Foreigners Law, which will be discussed in Parliament in September, saying that only after the Constitutional Court (TC) will pronounce that there will be a correction of its wording.
Luís Montenegro has promised that “if by chance, the TC understands that there is some norm or solution of some norm is not completely in accordance with the interpretation of constitutional principles”, the majority that represents will “To comply with this decision and find a legal solution that can respect the pronunciation of the TC.”
“But that can also fulfill the goal. That is, there is one thing that is very clear: we will not give up our goal, even if there is any correction of the wording of the law by virtue of the pronouncement of the TC,” he stressed.
To journalists, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 633rd edition of the São Mateus Fair in Viseu, the Prime Minister recalled that Foreign Law “has not even been discussed” in Parliamentand predicts that this happens at the beginning of the work in September.
