The formal sector of commerce in Acre registered its best result in over a decade, according to the Annual Commerce Survey (PAC) released by IBGE last Thursday (7). In total, trade has employed 21,687 workers, the largest number since 2007, indicating a robust economic recovery in the postpandeia period.
Compared to 2022, the growth was 7.1%, with the creation of 1,439 new formal vacancies. Compared to 2019, before the pandemic, the increase in employment was even more expressive, reaching 20.2%, which corresponds to 3,653 new jobs. Retail was the main segment responsible for the recovery, accounting for 76.1% of total jobs in the sector. Wholesale trade also had significant high, reaching the largest contingent since 2007, with 2,989 workers.

In addition to the growth in staff, the state’s formal trade showed good financial performance in 2023. Throughout the year, workers received about R $ 648.9 million in salaries, withdrawals and other forms of remuneration, demonstrating the solidity of the resumption.
Acre also had 2,829 commercial establishments, which together moved a net operating revenue of R $ 11.9 billion. Retail trade accounted for 58.4% of this revenue, followed by wholesale trade, with 30.4%, and by the segment of vehicles, parts and motorcycles, which represented 11.1% of the total.
Governor Gladson Cameli pointed out that good results reflect the work of public policies that encourage the private sector, considered fundamental to state progress.
“We believe that the productive sector needs to be free to develop. Therefore, we have focused on reducing processes and creating incentives that make Acre increasingly attractive to investors and entrepreneurs. Acre is a diamond that we need to cut, and this is only possible with the joint effort of all, because not government alone,” said the governor.
