Then select a south -facing place with the longest as long sunlight during the DNE. A great solution is also terrariums or decorative growing containers that can be moved to the interior for winter.

Cacti hate waterlogging. Therefore, use a special substrate for succulents with a high proportion of sand and gravel that allows rapid drainage of water. The drainage layer of ceramic or stones at the bottom of the container is a necessity that you must not forget. For outdoor cultivation consider a raised flower bed that will not retain water. Remember that less is sometimes more! Cacti can better withstand slight drought than spilling.

Domestic conditions are perfectly suited to species such as Echinopsis, Mammillaria, Rebutia or Gymnocalycium. These cacti can handle normal housing temperatures and during the summer you can let them outside. If you want to grow less known thermophilic species such as Melocactus or Discocactus, Secure them during winter enough light and higher temperature. On the other hand, cold -loving species such as lobivia or sulcorebutia will appreciate hibernation at 5–10 ° C without watering.
