President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva spoke with Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, on Saturday morning (9), by telephone. Among the topics dealt with are Putin discussions with the United States, the collaborations in the BRICS block and the Ukraine War.
According to the Planalto, the conversation, which lasted about 40 minutes, included a thanks from Putin for the commitment of Brazil on the pacification between Russia and Ukraine. Lula reinforced the country’s historic defense for dialogue and peaceful solutions and reiterated that his management is willing to collaborate, including through the group of Friends of Peace, a joint initiative with China.

The presidents also approached the international political and economic scenario and dealt with cooperation between the two countries within the BRICS. Putin congratulated Brazil for the results achieved at the Block Summit, held on July 6 and 7, in Rio de Janeiro. In the bilateral level, they reaffirmed the commitment to hold this year the next edition of the Brazil-Russian High Level Commission.
