The president (PT) criticized this Friday (8.ago.2025) the former basketball player Igor Eduardo Cabral, 29, who assaulted his girlfriend Juliana Garcia dos Santos, 35, with over 60 punches inside an elevator. The petista made the statement during a federal government’s announcement ceremony in Porto Velho, Rondônia.
“These days I saw a brute on television giving 37 punches in the woman’s face. A horse had to give 37 kicks on his forehead to see what is good. We need to end violence at home and so education is important. You also need to denounce.”these.
Lula also stated that “The guy who raises his hand to hit the woman is worth nothing” and that the hand was made for “Work and make affection, not to assault”.

The case of Juliana Garcia was registered in the elevator of a condominium in Natal, on July 26. The images were recorded by a local security camera. The woman had to perform facial reconstruction surgery after the episode.
According to, Igor Cabral is arrested in the Public Prison Dinora Simas, in Ceará-Mirim (RN). He became a defendant in state court for attempted femicide. In a note, the former athlete asked for forgiveness and said that his conduct was in a “Context of substance use and emotional instability”.

“I, Igor Eduardo P. Cabral, come with deep respect, manifest myself in the face of recent events that shook so many people. I recognize that there was pain, anguish and suffering, especially for Juliana, her daughter, her family, as well as for my parents and other loved ones.
“I deeply regret that my conduct, influenced by a context of substance use and emotional instability, has contributed to this situation. Although the circumstances are still being determined, I feel the sincere need to express my request for forgiveness to all who have been affected in any way.
“I have no intention of justifying anything, nor to minimize the impact of the facts. I only want Juliana to find strength to move on, with serenity, courage and peace. To her, her daughter and her family, send my prayers and my most genuine respect.
“I face the current moment with humility and hope that, over time, all parties involved can find ways of healing, reflection and fresh start.

In the environment, it will allocate R $ 55.4 million for bioeconomic projects and the project will receive R $ 13 million to expand access to drinking water.
