The minister of the Federal Supreme Court () denied on Friday (8) a request from the federal deputy (PL-GO) to visit former President Jair Bolsonaro, who has been in prison in Brasilia since Monday (4). In the decision, Moraes stated that Gayer is the target of an investigation that has a connection with ongoing processes against Bolsonaro. One of the precautionary measures imposed on the former president prohibits that he has contact with other investigators or defendants, including through third parties.

“I reject the visit authorization for Gustavo Gayer Machado de Araújo, since he is investigated in PET 12.042/DF,” wrote the minister. This is the first request for a visit rejected since house arrest was decreed. Gayer argued that the visit would be “institutional and humanitarian” character and said he was willing to comply with restrictions, such as not registering images or disclosing the meeting.

Moraes authorized this week the entry of other allied parliamentarians and private doctors of Bolsonaro. Children, grandchildren, daughters-in-law and sisters-in-law of the former president do not need prior authorization for visits. Also on Friday, Bolsonaro’s defense asked Michelle Bolsonaro’s family members to visit him on Sunday (10), Father’s Day. In the list are relatives of former first lady and Martha Seillier, former special secretary of the Investment Partnership Program (PPI) in the Bolsonaro government, accompanied by her daughter with councilor Carlos Bolsonaro.
