In the middle of the weekend, while Congress caught fire, the fans of eight Brazilian clubs (Corinthians, Vasco, Botafogo, Fluminense, Cruzeiro, Atlético-MG, Bahia and Athletico-PR), celebrated the classification for the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Cup. As usual, technical and tactical details, referee errors and unexpected factors contributed to deciding the matches.

Flamengo and Palmeiras, the two strongest candidates for the titles of Brasileirão and Libertadores, were eliminated. In knockout games, against great opponents, there are no surprises. In addition, Flamengo and Palmeiras are not timaries as they like to say. Palmeiras got worse with the exits of their two best players, Stephen and Richard Ríos.

The boos and offenses from the Palmeiras fans to players and victorious coach Abel Ferreira are unfair, a big exaggeration, more frequent conduct in Brazilian football. Worse, very serious, they are the pressure and offenses of many fans on club premises. Certainly, it is the minority. The players and coaches make mistakes, but do everything to win. This is obvious.

Aggressiveness, intolerance and violence in football are reflections of crime, the society of the show, the exaggeration, polarization, false narratives, radicalization and hatred to those who think differently. The country is moving towards political bankruptcy and self -destruction.

Good thing most fans just want to cheer and enjoy the emotions and beauty of a football match. There are fans of all kinds. Many are outgoing, go to the stadium with flags and shirts of their teams. They sing and dance. Victory is a complete catharsis, a huge joy.

There are also the lonely, the shy and those who are the great understandings of football. Cheer silent, pay attention to all the details and have all the information. They would like to talk to the technicians during the games and, like commentators, think they have the magic formula to win. There are still the hammers, who complain of everything, even in victory. They like to cheer behind the tunnel, close to the coaches, to go to them and ask for substitutions.

Most fans are docile and responsible. The violent are few, but dangerous. The presence of an exalted chef infects others. Aggressive instincts are released and quickly propagated, a tragedy. The violent do not feel guilty in the crowd. For them, it’s the group’s fault.

When I was a boy, I went with my father to the Independence Stadium. The party started on the buses. There were rarely riots. I would like to stay in the lowest step of the stands, a few meters above the lawn. I saw the details, emotions and sweats of the players. An iron bar separated us from the lawn. I felt participant in the show.

Recently, I went to Mineirão with my children, grandchildren, family and friends and was delighted with the beauty of the Cruzeiro fans. I would like to go back more often, but I see games on television because it is easier, simpler, and at home I have a lot of information and opinions from journalists who strengthen my understanding of the game. In addition, the games of the games are quite open, wide, which facilitates the understanding of the set.
