Muslim states must act uniformly and to speak against the Israeli plan together to take control of the Palestinian city of Gaza, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Saturday after negotiations in Egypt. According to Reuters report, TASR reports this.
Both Egypt and Turkey condemned the plan of Israel on Friday to take control of the densely populated city of Gaza. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to “fulfill its duty” and to prevent the decision of the Israeli government from moving the Palestinians from their own territory.
Extraordinary OIC meeting
At a press conference with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Badr Abdaláti, Fidan said that the states of Islamic cooperation (OIC) called an extraordinary meeting.
According to the head of Turkish diplomacy, Israeli policy is aimed to expel the Palestinians from their territory through hunger, and that its aim is a permanent invasion of the Gaza Strip. He added that there are no justifiable reasons for states to continue to support Israel.
Israel’s opinion
Israel refuses to seek to starve the Palestinians during the Gaza War and claim that the Palestinian militant Hamas movement could end this war if they surrendered.
“What is happening today is a very dangerous development … Not only for the Palestinian nation or neighboring states,” said Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdalatti. He described the plan of Israel as inadmissible.
The UN Security Council call
OIC said on Saturday’s statement that Israel’s plan is a dangerous and unacceptable escalation, an obvious violation of international law and an attempt to “consolidate illegal occupation”. At the same time, the organization pointed out that the Israeli plan would destroy any opportunity for peace.
Egypt, Qatar and the United States, as intermediaries for months, have been trying to achieve a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. OIC called on the World Powers and the UN Security Council to “take over its legal and humanitarian responsibility to take steps to stop” the Israeli plan in the Gaza Strip, and to ensure immediate accountability for what they described as a violation of international law by Israel.
Condemnation of Russia and other countries
AFP reported on Saturday that approximately 20 Arab and Muslim countries, including Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, condemned Israel’s plan to take control of the densely populated city of Gaza in the Gaza Strip and described this step as dangerous escalation.
Israel’s plan was also condemned by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday. “The implementation of such a decision and a plan caused by conviction and rejection is associated with the risk of worsening the already extremely dramatic situation in the Palestinian enclave, which carries all signs of humanitarian disaster,” the department said in its statement.
