Guests and sleeping in the tourist accommodation sector increased by 2.5% and 3.1% in June, in homologous terms, with total profits rising 7.6% to 751.8 million euros, the INE said.
According to the rapid statistics of the “tourist activity” of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in June the tourist accommodation sector recorded 3.1 million guests (+2.5% over the same month of 2024) and 8.1 million overnight (+3.1%). In the period, it generated 751.8 million euros of total profits (resulting from all the activity of the hotel establishment) and 583.4 million euros of room for rooms (refers only to the overnight), which represents climbs of 7.6% and 7.9%, respectively, in relation to the same month.
Although the profits continued to grow in June, the INE note that there was a slowdown over the previous month, in which homologous increases were 8.7% in total profits and 8.8% in the room.
For the growth of the porch contributed the residents, which increased 5.8% (after +5.6% in May) to 2.4 million overnight, and non -residents ( +2.0%, against -0.1% in May), totaling 5.7 million overnight, details the INE. In June, the top 10 issuing markets accounted for 76.5% of the total non -resident overwhelming, with the British market to maintain the leadership (20.3% of total non -resident porch), despite the decrease of 1.0% compared to the same month.
The German market, the second main issuing market in June (11.3%of the total), grew by 9.0%, followed by the US market in third position (a quota of 11.0%), with a growth of 5.5%.
In the group of the top 10 emitting markets in June, the highlight also the growth of the Canadian market (+7.7%) and the breaks of the French (-8.2%) and Brazilian (-7.5%) markets.
In the month under analysis, all regions of the country registered increases in the overnight, with the highest climbs that occurred in Alentejo (+9.6%) and in the North (+6.6%), while in Greater Lisbon (+0.1%) and Azores (+0.7%) the growths were “more modest”.
The Algarve concentrated 29.4% of the total overnight, followed by Greater Lisbon (21.9%).
The INE Details that residents’ overdrawings recorded “more significant growth” on the Setúbal Peninsula (+9.9%) and in the North (+8.3%), while in the Center (3.1%) and the West and Tagus Valley (2.9%) the highest decreases were observed.
In June, the average stay in tourist accommodation (2.59 nights) increased 0.6% (1.4% in May).
The highest values of this indicator continued to register in Madeira (4.51 nights) and the Algarve (3.91 nights), while the shortest stays occurred in the center (1.73 nights) and in the West and Tagus Valley (1.85 nights).
Regarding occupation rates in tourist accommodation establishments, the net occupation rate (54.8%) rose 0.4 percentage points in June and the net occupation rate (65.1%) increased 0.3 points.
The average yield by available room (REVPAR) was located at 89.5 euros (+5.4%) and the average yield per busy room (ADR) reached 137.4 euros (+4.9%).
The Algarve was the region that most contributed to the globality of sector profits (29.0% of total profits and 28.2% of room benefits), followed by Greater Lisbon (27.4% and 28.9%, respectively) and North (15.9% and 16.1%, by the same order).
The highest increases in wood occurred in wood ( +17.7% in total profit and +20.0% in the room) and north ( +12.2% and +11.4%, by the same order), while Greater Lisbon presented the lowest growth ( +1.1% in total profit and +1.2% in retirement).
Considering the generality of the means of accommodation (tourist accommodation establishments, camping and holiday colonies and youth inns), 3.4 million guests and 8.9 million overnights ( +2.5% and +3.9% respectively) were recorded in June.
