Head of the Calabresa Mafia is captured in Colombia

Colombian police used drones to locate Federico Starnone, who lived in an apartment in a wealthy neighborhood of Cali

The Italian Federico Starnone, allegedly chief and intermediary between the Colombian and Ecuador Calabresa mafia and drug traffickers, was captured by the Colombian authorities in Cali, the capital of the Cauca Valley Department in the southwest of the country.

” [sic] Federico Startone, a coarse cocaine buyer for the Italian mafia, was arrested by Colombian police in coordination with the Italian police in Cali, “said Colombian President Gustavo Petro in his account on social network X.

Starnone, 46, was wanted by Interpol for international cocaine trafficking and alliance with organized crime in the Southern Cone and the Andean Region.

Colombian police used drones to locate Starnone, who lived in an apartment in a wealthy neighborhood of Cali.

Last July, the Colombian authorities, with the support of Italy and the United Kingdom, captured in Bogota Giuseppe Palermo, known as “Pepe”, the main leader of the Italian mafia ‘Nndrangheta’ in Latin America, the Colombian police director, General Carlos Fernando Triana, said at the time.

This detention was added, on the other hand, that occurred last March, when the alleged Italian dealer Emanuele Gregorini, known as “Dollarino”, considered the “greatest Head of the Italian Mafia in Latin America”, was captured in the Colombian city of Cartagena.

According to Colombian police, Gregorini was a “leader of the Lombard mobster system, consisting of the Camorra Maphias, Cosa Nostra and ‘Nndrangheta’, responsible for sending major cocaine loads from Colombia, Panama and Brazil to Europe.”

Finally, last February, Colombian police also captured in Barranquilla, north of the country, Namousi Mounir, known as “Mou”, accused of being the link between the Balkan cartel and the Latin American drug traffickers, including Gulf Clan, Colombia’s main criminal cartel.

Like Federico Startone, Mou was also targeted by an Interpol red alert, which is why the capture was also resulting from the coordination of several police forces, in this case, Colombian, Belgians and the United Kingdom.
