The cybersecurity company Malwarebytes has released an analysis that compares the digital habits of iPhone and Android users. The study suggests that iPhone owners are less careful with digital security than those who use Android smartphones.

According to the survey, Android users share less personal information in exchange for promotions, use more security tools and create exclusive passwords more often. These measures help precisely to avoid possible virtual attacks.

The research conducted by Malwarebytes interviewed 1,300 people over 18 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The survey is a deepening of a study released in June 2025 on virtual blows by mobile.

Iphone and Digital Security

The study points out that owners of often engage in online behaviors considered riskier. According to the report, about 47% of iPhone users admitted that they already bought some product on an unknown site because they offered lower price. On the other hand, only 40% of Android users did the same.

The survey also points out that 41% of iPhone owners said they already sent direct messages to companies or sellers on social networks to get coupons or discount codes, while among users of this percentage is 33%. That is, this percentage of Apple users He chose to buy on websites with discounts, not on the brand’s official channels.

Iphone owners also provide more personal data in exchange for benefits: 63% of them registered their phone number in promotional messaging (SMS) to receive offers compared to 55% of Android users.

In addition to taking more risks when browsing online and shopping, many iPhone users adopt fewer basic security precautions. Only 21% of iPhone owners said they used a security applicationlike antiviruses or password managers, while among Android users this number is 29%.

Similarly, only 35% of interviewees with iPhone usually create strong and exclusive passwords for each online account; Already with Android, 41% said they had this habit. Experts point out that this difference in behavior may be linked to excessive confidence that many have in native Apple security resources.

In the study, 55% of iPhone users agreed with the statement “I trust my smartphone security measures to keep me safe.” The result was higher than the 50% observed among Android users.

Thus, findings suggest that this confidence can lead iPhone owners not to change your behavior online or dispense more protections. For them, the device itself already keeps them safe.

Android or iPhone: Who cares the most?

In the general comparison, Android users demonstrated more rigorous digital safety habits than iPhone. In addition to using more protective applications and choosing, Android device owners are also slightly less likely to fall into virtual blows.

According to the survey, 53% of iPhone users reported have already fallen into some kind of online coup; The rate of Android users was 48%.

“Devices and operating systems are just input ports for applications and websites, and it is often on these online spaces that risks arise. When websites or applications display malicious or misleading content, it is up to the user to decide what is real, what is fraud, and where he should click,” said Business Manager for Malwarebytes, Mark Beare, in an official statement.

Anyway, it is important to highlight that the research was not done to point out which system is safest, but to show that users’ decisions have a direct impact on digital security. According to Malwarebytes, what really makes a difference is the habits of use, which can make the phone more or less vulnerable.

To avoid scams or other problems involving digital security, The best recommendation is to adopt good practices on any platformbe it android or iOS. This includes registering strong passwords that are not used in more than one account, be careful with suspicious links, use protective apps, among other measures.
