The Deputy Secretary of the United States Department (USA), Christopher Landau, accused Alexandre de Moraes, Minister of the Supreme Court (STF), of destroying “historically near Brazil’s near the United States.”

“What is happening now in Brazil reinforces this point: a single Federal Supreme Court minister usurped dictatorial power by threatening leaders of other powers, or their families, with arrest, detention or other penalties,” he said about Moraes, who would subvert the formal separation of powers by “intimidating others to resign their constitutional prerogatives.”

The deputy secretary also said that it is always possible to negotiate with leaders of the executive and legislature, but not with a judge, who must maintain the claim that all his actions are dictated by law.

“It destroyed a close relationship between Brazil and the USA,” says Rubio's deputy about Moraes

“We meet in a dead end where the usurper dresses with the appearance of the rule of law and the other powers insist that they are powerless to act,” he said. Landau ended his post stating that the US wants to return to historic friendship with the “great nation of Brazil”.
