The families of Israeli hostages call a general strike in Israel, supported by the opposition
A group of families from hostages who are still kidnapped in Gaza has called a general strike in Israel next Sunday to protest against the Israeli offensive in the Palestinian enclave and the plan of the prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, to take his capital, a proposal seconded by the Israeli opposition.
In a press conference held in Tel Aviv that includes the Israeli press, relatives have denounced that the plan approved last Friday by the Israel Security Cabinet, which includes expanding the offensive and getting control of the city of Gaza (where almost one million people live), will only lead to the death of the 20 live hostages that are still there.
“Next Sunday we will stop and say: ‘Enough, stop the war, return to the hostages.’ He is in our hands,” said Reut Recht-Edri at the press conference, whose son was Edri, Edri was killed by Hamas at the Nova Music Festival, according to Times of Israel newspaper.
The leader of the Israeli opposition, Yair Lapid, has seconded the proposal in a message in his X account, in which he states that “the call of the families of the kidnapped to close the economy is justified and appropriate.”
In addition, the leader of the left, Yair Golan, has announced that his formation, the Democratic Party, adds to the strike called by the families “I call all the citizens of Israel, all those who consider the value of life and mutual guarantee, to join us and go to the streets, to fight,” he written in his account of the same social network.
