Migrants who landed in the Algarve have 20 days to leave the country voluntarily

Moroccan citizens will be housed in the coming days at a pavilion in Sagres.

The 38 migrants who landed last Friday at Praia da Boca do Rio, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, Algarve, They have 20 days to abandon the country voluntarily. VThey will be housed in a multipurpose pavilion in Sagres until the government finds an alternative.

The first night was spent at the Vila do Bispo Guard post, but the pavilion has been prepared since Friday with beds, water, food and clothes.

The judge decided that Moroccan citizens have to leave the country, but until then they are in the custody of the authorities.

The government is trying to find alternatives to lodge the group, which includes a baby and six more children.

They were rescued on August 8, already at night. It is estimated that they have passed at least five days at sea until they arrived at the beach of Boca do Rio, in a small wooden boat. They were fragile and dehydrated.

Eleven have been referred to the hospital and there is a man who is still hospitalized at Portimão with kidney problems. But none of the crew was in serious condition.

He still has to hear four people who could not attend at the hearing in Silves because they are under medical observation. They should be present to the judge on Monday at the Court of Lagos.
