What started as a simple Instagram profile to share creative drawings and phrases has become a consolidated and personality -filled business within a few years. Created in 2019, the pen and chalk was born from the passion of its founder, Rafael Pinheiro dos Santos, 29, by Lettering – The Art of Drawing Letters – discovered in 2015, after watching videos on YouTube.

“I started doing it for hobby, encouraged by my brother and parents. I have always enjoyed drawing from a young age,” recalls Rafael, who has a degree in Forest Engineering, but found in art his true profession.

From hobby to business

The hobby transition to enterprise happened naturally. The first requests were personalized paintings, followed by work with decorative balloons for parties, walls on walls and customization of objects. Today, the pen and chalk accumulates over 500 painted murals and continues to expand each year.

The studio’s proposal is clear: turning dreams into reality. “We serve from children who want a room with their favorite character to entrepreneurs who seek a unique way of communicating with their customers,” explains Rafael. Elements of Acrean and Amazonian culture are a remarkable presence in creations, which gives identity and authenticity to the works.

Customers and striking projects

The main customers include companies that want instagramble walls and strategic decoration to attract and delight the public. The portfolio includes works for Via Verde Shopping, Mercale and Atacale Group, Agroboi, sovereign burger and even for the Go Coffee national franchise.

Residential service is also strong, with projects for children’s rooms, gourmet kitchens and execution of proposals prepared by architects.

News for 2025

Next year promises news. The pen and chalk prepares special collaborations, such as the partnership with the Acrean brand Made in Acre, which will result in three exclusive prints. Another bet is a thematic exhibition about chestnut and nuts, further valuing regionality.

The transforming force of art

For Rafael, art goes far beyond aesthetics. “Art transforms realities, starts smiles, changes environments, and communicates important messages. It speaks for itself. And we like to talk a lot about Acre, nature and the things that are part of our daily lives,” he summarizes.
