In Brazil, taking a shower with good soap is part of a pleasant daily habit that became a mandatory routine in the lives of Brazilians. For many people, it is also a moment of self -care and relaxation.

And soap is one of the protagonists of this important body moment, as it is often used generously in all parts of our body.

And the intention is always clear: to keep the skin clean, remove dirt, impurities, sweat and unwanted odors.

However, experts have warned that this widespread use may in some cases more harmful than beneficial. And it is good to pay attention to how we bathe and do our intimate hygiene.

And one from the American Academy of Dermatology, revised by Cleveland Clinic that the skin has a natural microbiota. In translation, it means that it is a set of beneficial bacteria that help protect against infections and inflammation.

And scientists have pointed out that we should pay attention to the use of soap at the time of the pack. Thus, when using excess soap, especially in sensitive areas, it can destroy this protective barrier, leading to dryness, irritation and imbalances in the pH of the skin.

Thus, excessive cleaning with soap in areas such as genitals, inner ear or face can cause problems such as dermatitis, fungal infections and even allergies.

According to experts, the regions that should avoid direct contact with soap are:

1. Internal genital area

For women, wash the vulva externally with water and avoid using soaps within the intimate region. The vagina has its own balance of pH and bacterial flora, which can be compromised.

2. Anus and perianal region

Even if you need to hygienize this area to avoid bad smell, the use of strong soaps can cause cracks and alter the natural protection of the perianal field. Thus, the study indicates that the ideal is to use only warm water or neutral soaps.

3. Face (using body soap)

The skin of the face deserves a more different hygiene from the rest of the body and also requires specific products for it. Thus, common soaps can remove natural oiliness and cause acne or dryness.

4. Inner part of the ear

No soap or water inside the ear. Thus, the indication is to clean only the outside smoothly with a damp cloth or towel.
