Spanish warns tourists so as not to ask for this drink in summer and suggests alternative

With the arrival of summer, Spain again receives millions of tourists in search of beaches, hot nights and fresh drinks. However, a Spanish resident left a warning directed to those visiting the country: the popular drink served in jar, the bleed, can be one of the largest traps for tourists, according to the Daily Express newspaper. And ensures that there is a more authentic and economic alternative.

The warning that generated debate

The warning was shared on the Reddit platform by Spanish user Delde116, who advised visitors to rethink the drink that associate with holidays in Spain. “Bleeding is a trap for tourists,” he wrote.

According to the same user, bleeding is hardly requested by the locals. “Bleeding is like a soda, such as Coca-Cola or Fanta. Imagine coming to Spain and paying 10 euros for a jar of Fanta. This happens across the country,” he said, quoted by the same source.

The local alternative

Instead of bleeding, this Spaniard recommends the red of Verano, a mixture of Spanish red wine with lemon soda, very popular among residents and sold at a much lower price.

According to the same source, the suggestion arises at a time when destinations such as Majorca have registered protests against massive tourism, which increases the attention given to practices and habits considered not authentic.

Beyond the drink

The user also took the opportunity to undo another common mistake among foreign visitors: the idea that Paella is the national dish of Spain. “Spanish gastronomy is regional. Paella is a valence plate. Although there are genuine versions in other regions, they are generally known places only on the recommendation of the inhabitants,” he explained.

In fact, Spanish cuisine is composed of specialties from various regions: Seville is recognized by slaps, Galicia by the Tenro and San Sebastián octopus by the Pintxos, small delicacies served on bread, as reported in the newspaper.

For those looking for authentic flavors, the user Delde116 also suggests options such as Gaspacho Fresco in Andalusia or a visit to the region of La Rioja, famous for red wines. Here, he says, it is possible to enjoy a glass of quality appreciated by those who produce it, leaving behind the drinks that, although popular among tourists, are not part of the daily life of most Spanish.
