Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, once again said on Saturday, 9, that to mitigate the effects of the United States tariff to Brazil should be announced early next week. The measures will focus on companies that most export to the US market.
Alckmin stressed that the executive’s priority is not to retaliate the United States, but expand the number of excluded sectors from the fare. “The priority is not retaliation, the priority is to resolve, seek to expand the number of sectors that are excluded, that are out of this rate of tariff that we understand extremely unfair. In fact, with a totally weak legal basis, because I cannot do regulatory policy based on partisan political issues,” he told the press during a visit to Guaratunguetá (SP) concessionaire.
The vice president stressed that, in the government assessment, the increase in tariffs is a misunderstanding that mainly penalizes the population. “When the fare is increasing, the consumer is pays. It is the government that pays, it is the consumer who ends up paying. So we understand that it is a losing loss. We should go to a win.
