From September 4th to 7th, Tavira turns again to the heart of the Mediterranean diet, an event that promises to delight all the senses by the Gilão River. Organized by the municipality, this fair consecrated to the Mediterranean lifestyle – UNESCO Intangible Heritage since 2013 – brings together tradition, gastronomy and community experience in a program designed for all ages.
A legacy that goes beyond the table
More than a diet, the Mediterranean diet represents in Tavira a sustainable way of life, based on seasonality, social life and respect for nature.

“It is a model aligned with the objectives of sustainable development,” says the municipality, highlighting values such as the intergenerational transmission of knowledge and the traditional production methods that characterize this cultural heritage.
