The London Metropolitan Police (Met Police, in English) reported on the social network X that it had made at least 200 arrests in a demonstration in the Plaza del Parliamento Britanico in favor of Palestine Action, recently illegalized by the Labor Government for carrying out disruptive and violent actions.
“At 15:40 British time (14:40 GMT), the number of arrests for showing support to a banned organization was 200, with more to arrive,” confirmed the Met Police, which pointed out four additional arrests for attacks on police officers.
Since last July, Palestine Action is categorized by law as “terrorist organization” in the United Kingdom, after vandalizing two planes in a military base of the Royal British Air Force (RAF) or blocking the entry of the headquarters of the Israeli Defense Company Elbit Systems in Bristol (Southwest of England).
This proscription implies that being a member of the PropaiTin group, or showing support to it, is now typified as a criminal offense that can lead up to 14 years in prison, under the terrorism law of the year 2000.
