Meteorological conditions improve to control the fire in Carcastillo (Navarra)
The anti -capital troops who work against the vegetation fire declared on Saturday in a forestry place in the Navarra town of Carcastillo have continued the work on the ground during tonight, in which the weather conditions have improved, which has allowed the neighbors to open the windows of the homes. However, the fire is still not perimeted, a task complicated by weather conditions, especially high temperatures after night. At the moment, nearby populations are not in danger.
The Navarra Minister of Interior, Public Function and Justice, Amparo López, has reported, after participating in the meeting of the Emergency Advisory Committee, which has been decided in which it has been decided to maintain level 2 of the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires (Infona), which allows us to have resources outside Navarra, which in fact has been reinforced with personnel and media of the Government of Spain and those of Aragon and the Basque Country.
López has pointed out that thanks to his work – on Sunday there was 16 aerial media – it has been achieved that the fire does not advance and contains in the same extension, which for the moment has not been quantified, although the priority task is to “anchor the perimeter” of the fire, whose origin has attributed to the “human action”, although it has ruled out the agricultural or forestry activity in the origin.
At the beginning of the day, firefighters who have worked throughout the night by new troops have begun to be progressively relieved, with which the tasks of extinction by land will continue. The aerial media have been incorporated into the device when the light conditions have allowed it.
Given the improvement of weather conditions during the night, the residents of the nearby towns of Carcastillo and Murillo the fruit have been able to open the windows of their homes, after last night the authorities advised to close them for the strong presence of smoke in the area.
For its part, Civil Protection has announced that it will continue to monitor the situation and have asked citizens to attempt to the recommendations, which will also be transmitted to the municipalities. (EFE)
