Authorities from various countries lamented the death of Miguel Uribe, a presidential candidate for Colombia who suffered an attack in June.
He was hospitalized after being shot in a rally in the city of Bogota. To date, six people have been arrested for alleged involvement in the attack on the parliamentarian.
Uribe’s death information was confirmed by his wife through social networks.
And stressed that the government received the news with deep regret.
“By reiterating vehemently repudiation to any form of political violence, the Brazilian government conveys sincere condolences to the senator’s family and expresses solidarity with the government and the people of Colombia,” the statement says.
Marco Rubio, head of US diplomacy, and stressed that the country sympathizes with the family and the Colombian people “in both mourning and justice requirement for those responsible.”

Through a statement, UN Secretary-General António Guterres also lamented Uribe’s death and sent condolences to the family.
“The Secretary General reiterates his appeal so that the attack on the senator on June 7 is fully investigated and those responsible are brought to court,” the text points out.
Guterres also asked the authorities of the Latin American country to take all the necessary measures to guarantee peaceful elections.
Santiago Peña, president of Paraguay, stressed that the case hurts deeply and calls even stronger union throughout the continent to combat the crime.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru also lamented the death of the pre-candidate and condemned any act of political violence or intimidation that violates the right to freely exercise participation in democracy and respect for the rule of law in the region.
