Cartola states that championships will have to adapt to the rules of the Brazilian Football Confederation and that probable change has benefits to everyone involved
The president of, Samir Xaud, made the promise on Monday (11) to present in 60 days the proposal of a new calendar for Brazilian football. The main modification should be the reduction of states to a maximum of 11 dates. The top hat spoke quickly to journalists about the proposal, without deepening it, in an event in a hotel in Rio de Janeiro, where the first national model of financial fair play was discussed to be introduced in Brazilian football.
In May, he had said that the focus on changes from next year will be to wipe out the dates of the state to make the calendar less exhausting, the target of constant complaints from technicians and players, who claim longer rest period between matches. The proposal will be presented for analysis of clubs and federations, but, according to Xaud recently, there are no discussions. “There are no negotiations, there will be 11 dates,” he said. “The Brazilian calendar is very full. If we do not reduce, we will not be able to comply with the tables.”
The president understands that the state will have to adapt to the CBF standards and that the likely change is beneficial to all involved, especially in 2026, the year of the first expanded edition of 48 teams. This season, the state were played with a maximum of 16 dates, case of the Paulista Championship. They were played at an early age because of the World Cup, from January 12, and closed on March 27.
