Conmebol (South American Football Confederation) announced on Monday (11) the stage of the Libertadores Cup final. The final match of the 2025 edition of the competition will be at the Monumental Stadium, in Lima, on November 29.
The entity had already pointed out that the duel would take place in the capital of Peru, but had not yet confirmed the arena. Now, he said that the place of the dispute will be the same one that received the 2019 decision, the first in the format of a single game.
At the time, the title went to Flamengo, in a dramatic confrontation. The red-black team, at the time directed by Jorge Jesus, lost to River Plate until the 44th minute of the second half, but sought the 2-1 win with two goals from Gabriel Barbosa, Gabigol.
Since then, the final took place twice in Maracanã, in Rio de Janeiro, one in Centenario, in Montevideo, one at the monumental of Guayaquil, Guayaquil, and one at the Monumental de Núñez, in Buenos Aires. Now returns to the Monumental de Lima, with a capacity of 80,000 spectators.
The championship is in the round of 16, which will start on Tuesday (12). There are still five Brazilian clubs involved in the dispute. One of them, Palmeiras, will play at Monumental de Lima on Thursday (14), in the departure against the university.
Also alive in the competition are São Paulo, Botafogo, Flamengo and Internacional. Brazil only have won the event since 2019, in a clear portrait of the country’s financial superiority in relation to competitors in South America.
