Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) said on Monday, 11, in an interview with Financial Timesthat the United States must intensify the pressure against the Federal Supreme Court (STF) of Brazil, imposing new sanctions on ministers who do not end the trial of their father, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), allegedly coordinating a coup d’état.
Eduardo leads a Washington lobby campaign for the US to take action against the Brazilian court to avoid the eventual arrest of the former president.
“I know Trump has a number of possibilities on the table, from sanctioning more Brazilian authorities to a new wave of revocation of visas, to tariff issues,” Eduardo told the FT.

According to him, Washington should expand penalties after the US government has already applied sanctions to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, responsible for the process.
Eduardo Bolsonaro states that “Moraes burned all his options” and that US President Donald Trump, “not yet. Trump still has the option to double his bet based on Moraes’s reaction.”
Among the possible retaliation, he cites the chance of sanctions against the wife of Moraes, “which is his financial arm”, as well as revocation of visas to the minister’s allies. The threat of retaliation had already been extended to Moraes Allies last week, in a US Embassy publication in Brazil.

To the FTthe deputy also pointed out that he also intends to bring the theme to Europe to press for sanctions against the Brazilian court in the European Parliament. “I want to lead US sanctions to the attention of European parliamentarians so that it can be sanctioned there,” he said.
Despite the internal criticism, which accuse his campaign to harm exports and jobs in Brazil, Eduardo argues that his performance aims to “save democracy” and admits to being prepared for “left people who can insult and criticize.”
