The 28 -year -old Gazatí journalist, one of the most emblematic Gazati faces of the jazeera television network, and three other Palestinian reporters from the same media outlet died this Sunday night in an Israeli bombing in Gaza City,

Al Jazeera explained that the Sharif, the Mohammed Qreiqeh chain reporter and the Ibrahim Zaher and Mohammed Noufal cameramen died when the Israeli army attacked the tent in which they worked and lived at the doors of the hospital to the city’s shifa.

Qatari television, citing as a source the director of the hospital, said that everything indicates that it was an attack that was target journalists. The information was confirmed shortly after by the Israeli army “Al Sharif was the head of a Hamas terrorist cell and directed rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and troops,” said the text.

The journalist, one of the most prominent reporters of the coverage of this war, had been directly accused by Israeli responsible on several occasions of belonging to the armed arm of the Islamist movement Hamas, which governs in Gaza.

The last one, at the end of July, when the Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, shared a video on social networks in which he accused Al Sharif of manufacturing the information he was spreading about hunger in Gaza.

The jazeera journalist, father of a very young boy and girl, had not been able to avoid tears when making his live, on July 20, and talking about the pressing lack of food in the strip.

At that time, Al Jazeera denounced the Israeli army for these attacks and considered that the discredit campaign suffered by its journalists “constituted a dangerous attempt to justify.”

Almost a year earlier, in August 2024, Adraee had already accused Al Sharif of “Lying” in his coverage of an Israeli air attack against a school in which several displaced children died. And in October, six reporters from the Catarí Canal that cover the war in Gaza, including Sharif, to belong to Hamas and the militias of the Islamic jihad.

Foreign journalists cannot enter Gaza and these accusations against Gazati reporters seem an effort to “discredit them” and call into question the information they transmit, he regretted at that time the jazeera. According to more than 200 Gazati informants, they have lost their lives violently in this war, since October 2023, including several journalists of this television network, some collaborators of the television network and several of their relatives.

At the end of July, the Committee for the Protection of Journalists (CPJ) said “deeply concerned” about these threats against Sharif and considered that it was the previous step to kill him. “This is not the first time that Sharif has been attacked by the Israeli army, but the danger to her life is now acute,” said the regional director of the CPJ, Sara Qudah, in a statement.

“All this is happening because my coverage of Israel’s crimes in the Gaza Strip damages and clouds their image in the world,” Sharif told the CPJ at that time.

Minutes before dying on Sunday, the reporter published a message on the social network X, which now seems premonitory, in which he warned about the plan of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to completely occupy Gaza City. “If this madness does not end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, the voices of his people will be silenced, his erased faces, and history will remind you as silent witnesses of a genocide that you decided not to stop. Please share this message and label all those who have the power to help end this massacre. Silence is complicity,” wrote the reporter.
