The number of senators who say in favor of the impeachment of the Minister of (Supreme Federal Court) so far is, in practice, slightly lower than the announced by the opposition.
This is because one (with effort) was the minister’s alternate (agriculture), Margareth Buzetti (PSD-MT). As Fávaro is against the removal of the magistrate, the agenda would follow without majority, with 40 declared supporters.
Since the pockets have intensified the collection of subscriptions to (-AP) to advance with the impeachment request of Moraes.
The document has no practical effect. According to reports, alcohubre even stated that accepting or not an impeachment request is the prerogative of the president of the Senate – and that the president is him.
Nevertheless, the opposition states that the number of 41 signatures has a symbolic effect: it represents most of the 81 senators and is also the minimum necessary to continue the request in an intermediate stage of the process (after the approval of the Senate President and the Special Commission). Fávaro is a senator of the Republic, with a mandate until the beginning of 2027. A colleague of government says that even though the 41 signatures had some unfolding, the Minister of Agriculture would be temporarily resumed to prevent the alternate from voting.
Another alternate appears on the opposition list for the impeachment of Moraes, Senator Pedro Chaves (MDB-GO). In his case, however, the position follows that of the holder of the vacancy, Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD-GO).
