Rainfall in northwestern China kills 13 and force nearly ten thousand to run away

Nearly ten thousand residents were relocated after sudden floods caused by torrential rainfall that killed 13 people and left 30 missing in Gansu province, northwestern China, state broadcaster CCTV said on Monday (11).

CCTV images showed destroyed houses and roads, while emergency search and rescue efforts continue.

They started around 6 pm on Thursday (7) and caused sudden floods in Yuzhong, in the province of Gansu, leaving about four thousand people isolated, according to CCTV.

Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered “total” rescue efforts on Friday (8).
