Despite being widely pressured by Cruzeiro in the first half, Santos managed to support the pressure and won this Sunday (10/08) with a 2-1 turn in Mineirão, in a match valid for the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship. The Santos goals were scored by Guilherme and Caballero. Fabrício Bruno scored to the Fox.
The confrontation also had a goal from the cruise annulled by VAR for foul in Zé Rafael at the beginning of the play.
With the victory, Santos rises to 21 points and occupies the 14th place in the table. Cruzeiro remains second with 37 points, but sees Flamengo increase his advantage to three points in leadership.
Cruzeiro x Santos: How was the game and goals
In the first half, Cruzeiro had full control of the match, with the goalkeeper of Santos, Gabriel Brazil, as a great prominence, making difficult defenses. Even so, Fabrício Bruno managed to open the scoring for the home team on 42 minutes, with a head into the area.
Santos’s best chance in the early stage was a Cruzeiro mistake that left Neymar face to face with goalkeeper Cássio, but the striker finished over, wasting the opportunity. The game was 0-0 at the moment.
In the second half, the cruise reduced the pace and did not create so many chances. At 16 minutes, Guilherme received a cross from Caballero and tied the match, appearing free behind the opposing defense.
Shortly after the draw, Cruzeiro even shook the net, but VAR annulled the goal due to a foul in Zé Rafael at the origin of the play. After that, the home team lost intensity.
At 43, in a quick counterattack, Caballero received a depth from Guilherme and hit firmly to secure the 2-1 win.
